EchoSense Ltd. of Haifa Israel is a medical device company
that develops and commercializes non-invasive tools for diagnosis and monitoring
of patients suffering from cardiac and pulmonary diseases.
EchoSense was established in 2005 by Prof. Yoram Palti. It is currently conducting
clinical trials with the TPD (Transthoracic Parametric Doppler) device in major
Medical Centers in Haifa, Israel and New York. EchoSense is based adjacent to MATAM
- Advanced Technology Park, Haifa, Israel.
Prof. Yoram Palti, MD, Ph.D.
Yoram Palti is a professor (emeritus) of Physiology & Biophysics and Biomedical
Engineering at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology. He served as the head
of the Rappaport Institute for Research in the Medical Sciences, the medical research
arm of the Technion for 12 years. In the past 20 years he founded and managed companies
dedicated to development of medical equipment including NovoCure & Carmel Biosensor.
Mr. Lennart Perlhagen
Founder & Chairman of the Board
Lennart Perlhagen is an active entrepreneur and investor in emerging healthcare
companies and was the founding investor in NovoCure. Mr. Perlhagen previously founded
Meda AB, (public in Sweden), a leading specialty pharmaceutical company that grew
from a market capitalization of $10 million to over $4.0 billion during his tenure
with the company. Prior to Meda AB, Lennart was the CEO for Scandinavia and UK for
Pharmitalia Spa(later acquired by Pfizer)where he gained extensive experience in
oncology through the launch of the chemotherapy agent doxorubicin (Adriamycin).
Outside oncology, Lennart helped lead the commercial launch of omeprazole (Losec/
Prilosec), which became the best selling pharmaceutical product in the world for
Astra AB where he served as Regional Director for South Europe and as a member of
the International Marketing strategy Group.
Dr. Rachel Schatzberger, Ph.D.
Chief Scientific Officer
Dr. Schatzberger served as a Researcher first at Stanford and then at the Technion
– Israel Institute of Technology for 15 years. In 1992 she joined the Medical Device
industry (NovoCure & Carmel Biosensors) as a Research Manager and Regulatory expert.
She Joined EchoSense in 2007.
Dr. Dan Weiler, MD
Dr. Weiler is a well known expert in Internal Medicine and Pulmonology. He headed
the regional Pulmonary Function Test Lab in Northern Israel and headed the Carmel
Hospital Pulmonary Department and laboratories for many years.
Dr. Rami Unterman, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Unterman is an internal medicine specialist, experienced in clinical practice
and research. Prior to joining EchoSense, he worked as a senior physician at the
Sheba Medical Center and gained experience in conducting clinical trials, including
ones with medical devices companies. He also served as a medical officer in the
Israel Defense Forces, holding various commanding and managerial positions.
Yossi Cohen, MBA, M.Sc.
Chief Technology Officer
Yossi Cohen joined EchoSense in 2012 having 20 years of experience in R&D management
and technology leading. Prior to joining EchoSense, Yossi served as a Sr. Director
of the TV Communication technology at Zoran Corporation, VP of System Engineering
at Oren Semiconductor, Research fellow at IBM Research Lab and in Project Management
positions in IDF. Yossi holds an M.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the
Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.
